This little story is written in the point of view of a nine year old little boy. The boy is named Bruno and he has an innocent and simple way of viewing the world. The story takes place in Nazi Germany. Bruno’s father works for “the fury”. He is taken to a place in the country (”Outwith”) where his dad got a job. From Bruno’s window in the house in “Outwith” he can see people in striped pajamas on the other side of a tall fence. Lonely for his “best-friends-for-life” that he left in Berlin, Bruno goes out on an adventure and finds a boy his age on the other side of the fence. The story is moving and beautifully written. I can’t wait to see what they’ve done with the story to make it into a movie. Will it be narrated? I can’t imagine it having the same impact without narration.
