I was given an assignment to speak in church this week. The talk was to be based on the challenge from President Hinckley to read the Book of Mormon before the end of the year. I have decided to take the challenge and encourage you all to do the same. I did a little math to prepare for my talk and if you start today, you only need to read 4 pages per day to complete the book on December 31st. 4 pages is nothing.

So today I started fresh, you know, "I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents …" Perhaps the most read passage of the Book of Mormon. I think I must have read this chapter at least five times for every one time I have completed the book, but it is still good and gets my interest every time. It is amazing to me that within the first five pages Lehi and his family have already begun their journey into the wilderness. There is a new documentary about this journey that is soon to be released by BYU. Looks very interesting to me … I’m sort of a geek. Anyway, so far so good on the Book of Mormon challenge.
